It grows the customer base for Diablo4 and that is great for everyone. Can't guess how many, but even a small percentage of dozens of millions (if its good, there will be new players after release that did not pre-register, while lots probably will also just drop after one story playthrough) will be a win. it may create new fans that are willing to "switch"(add) pc gaming FOR Diablo4. That in itself is smart, but even if the majority stays mobile only. Entering the mobile world means gaining those people, who only play mobile, as customers. With Immortal they are entering the mobile world for Diablo fans and. Hearthstone honestly doesn't count that much for Diablo. Diablo Immortal" (without ever mentioning it before that). in the meantime, take out your phones NOW and play our new game. ![]() Announcing it in a different way may have enabled it to success as mobile only. The only dumb thing was to announce it to a core-pc-gamer-crowd without a pc version from the get go. no matter from what angle you look at it. Of course I am happy with it coming to PC and it is certainly smart, but Immortal was smart all along. I still play the first week or so of most seasons on D3, this will be cool at least for a lil bit. I am at least going to try it, whereas if it were mobile only, I would have never looked at it. I am also happy to see that it's shaping up to be a success.Īlthough a mobile game at it's core, bringing it to PC is a pretty smart idea that will hold people over till Diablo 4 drops. This is definitely not my cup of tea, but I understand why Blizzard wants to enter the mobile gaming market. Things can certainly change, but as I stated above, the best way to get this sort of thing to change is to publicize issues so that they can't ignore it. There's already people who have been part of the testing phase talking about how some aspects of the progression system can only be done via in-game purchases, and the power gains aren't insignificant. *edit* - As a slight aside, the bit about 'optional in-game purchases' remains to be seen. If that was in the cards all along, the announcement wouldn't have gone down the way it did, and we'd have no meme. If we didn't have the phone meme take off, I can almost guarantee that this game wouldn't be coming to PC. The lesson that should be learned is if players push back enough or expose Blizz doing something dumb publicly, they will cave. Furthermore, considering the state of the economy in various parts of the world, people are probably holding on to older tech or may not have a smart phone to save money (as the cost of the phones keeps escalating to gaming PC levels at this point). Personally, I wouldn't play it either if it was phone-only since I don't really use my phone for gaming, especially since games like these can murder your battery life if your phone's main use isn't gaming. ![]() As some others have already said, if this was just a phone-only game, they probably wouldn't play it. ![]() Considering that they announced that D:Immortal will be available on PC with this pre-register bonus.
